About the practice

A private practice built on one belief: healthy people seek out help.

Telehealth Hope Counseling is a solo practice. You work with Brett from the first call to the last session, in person on Clifton Avenue or by secure video across Ohio and Kentucky.

Most people who call Brett have been carrying something for a while before they pick up the phone. They have talked themselves out of it once or twice. They are not looking to be convinced that counseling works; they want to know whether the person on the other end will be any good, and whether the first step is small enough to take today.

Brett has been a licensed counselor for more than 24 years and holds independent licenses in Ohio and Kentucky for clinical counseling. Brett participates in the Counseling Compact, which continues to expand access to participating states across the United States. Please inquire to find out whether Brett is authorized to provide counseling services in your state.

Before opening this practice he completed 3,500+ psychiatric assessments in the emergency department at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, which is a particular kind of training. It means very little that walks through the door is unfamiliar, and it means the first job in any session is to understand the whole picture before proposing anything.

The work itself is cognitive behavioral: practical, structured, and focused on what changes between sessions rather than on open-ended talk. You leave with something specific to try. Faith is welcome in the room when it matters to you, and it is never assumed when it does not.

Sessions run the same whether you are sitting in the office or joining by video. The only difference is the chair you are in.

In the room

What a session with Brett is like

Fifty minutes, two comfortable chairs, and a conversation with a purpose. Sessions open with a quick check-in on the week, spend most of their time on the thing you came to work on, and end with something specific to try before the next one.

Video sessions follow the same rhythm. The only difference is the chair you are sitting in.
